Acrylic Nails Without Nail Polish Remover

Acrylic Nail Removal: A DIY Guide for Grown-Out Nails

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Before you begin, gather the following materials:

  • Acetone
  • Cotton balls or pads
  • Aluminum foil
  • Orange sticks or cuticle pushers
  • Nail file
  • Buffer
  • Moisturizer

Step 2: Soak Your Nails in Acetone

Fill a shallow bowl or dish with acetone. Using cotton balls or pads soaked in acetone, apply them to your acrylic nails. Wrap each nail with aluminum foil to secure the cotton in place. Allow the acetone to soak for 15-20 minutes, or until the acrylic begins to lift.

Step 3: Gently Remove the Acrylic

Once the acrylic has softened, use an orange stick or cuticle pusher to gently lift and scrape it away from your natural nails. Avoid using excessive force, as this can damage your nails.

Step 4: File and Buffer

Use a nail file to gently smooth out any remaining acrylic residue. Next, use a buffer to refine the surface of your nails and give them a natural shine.

Step 5: Moisturize

Apply moisturizer to your nails and cuticles to rehydrate them after the acetone treatment.

Tips for Success

  • Use pure acetone for best results (100%).
  • Soak your nails for the full recommended time.
  • Be patient and gentle when removing the acrylic.
  • Avoid using harsh tools or chemicals.
  • Moisturize your nails daily after removing acrylics.

Caution

Acetone can be harmful to your skin and nails. Wear gloves when using it. Avoid contact with your eyes. Ventilate the area where you are removing the acrylics. If you have any concerns or allergies, consult a nail technician before removing acrylic nails at home.
